The activities marking Peruvian Independence Day began early in the morning with the deployment of police officers and soldiers around Lima’s Main Square and the Congress headquarters.
The legislative facilities will be used for the presidential inaugural ceremony and National Day related events.
President Ollanta Humala and Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano Bellido participated in the Mass and Te Deum at Lima’s Cathedral.
