Peru's Pisco production increased 10-fold over recent years (9.5 million liters) and exports exceeded US$8 million, the National Pisco Commission (Conapisco) confirmed.
It must be noted such figures are "unprecedented for Peru," Conapisco Chairman Carlos Mathews highlighted.
In contrast to other economic industries that grow 5% or 6%, Pisco industry exports experienced growth above 10%.
Its production leads to an unprecedented increase, within a context where foreign sales are slowing down, he added.
It must be pointed out such product is part of non-traditional exports, and accounts for 24% of total Peruvian shipments.
Remarks were made during the 22nd National Pisco Contest opening ceremony held in Arequipa on Wednesday.
