15:08 | Lima, Nov. 14.

November 16th will be declared a national non-working day if Peru's soccer team gets tickets for Russia 2018 World Cup this Wednesday, Labor and Employment Promotion Ministry affirmed Tuesday.

Via Twitter, the organization published a communiqué stating the aforementioned day will be subject to compensation.

In case the Peruvian squad reaches the long-awaited qualification, the initiative will become mandatory for the public sector and optional for the private sector.

The release also underscored proper measures must be adopted —if the Inca squad qualifies for Russia 2018— in order to ensure public order and security.

It must be noted this historic achievement may bring unity and happiness nationwide, as Peru has not participated in a World Cup event since 1982.

The decisive match

Peru and New Zealand saw a 0-0 draw in Wellington last Saturday in the FIFA World Cup intercontinental playoff's first leg.

In this sense, the final match will take place in Lima on November 15.

In case Peru defeats New Zealand in such clash, the national team will earn tickets to a World Cup for the fifth time in history.
