Peruvians grab medals at 2018 ISA World Longboard Surfing Championship

Peru's team showed good performances at the 2018 ISA World Longboard Surfing Championship thus totaling 2,305 points.

Peruvian Benoit "Piccolo" Clemente grabbed a silver medal on this occasion. Besides, he came close to winning his first ISA title in men's category.

Clemente (16.73 points) edged out U.S. Tony Silvagni (16.70), leaving the American surfer and his countryman Kevin Skvarna (16.17) with the bronze and copper awards, respectively. 

It must be noted Hawaiian Kai Sallas (19.4) took the gold medal home.

Female

On the other hand, Maria Fernanda Reyes did a great job on the last day of competition. 

Although Reyes (14.5) did not reach the grand final, the Peruvian was able to grab the third spot (bronze) in women's category. She was followed by Australian Emily Lethbridge (9.63; copper).  

The female event was won by U.S. Tory Gilkerson (16.3; gold), whereas the second position was taken by Brazilian Chloe Calmon (15.27; silver).

Event

Earlier this week, the Peruvian team won bronze at the event's Aloha Cup.

The ISA World Longboard Surfing Championship 2018 took place in Riyue Bay in Hainan (China) on January 19-25.
