Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros persuades Peruvians to travel and visit tourist spots across the country as they enjoy Labor Day's long weekend break (April 29-May 1).
He said the travel promotion campaign ¿Y tú, qué planes? (And you, any plans?) provides affordable travel packages for those days.
"Come and discover Zorritos beaches [Tumbes region] enjoying up to 50% discount off accommodation, or explore the magnificent Kuelap Fortress and Gocta Waterfalls [both in the Amazon] with a 45% discount," he suggested.
According to Ferreyros, his portfolio is working to revive the country's tourism industry, which explains why Muevete Peru! (Get Moving, Peru!) and #ElTurismoAyuda (#Tourism Helps) campaigns are still promoted.
"It [the long weekend break] gives us the chance to embark on a three-day journey around the country, whose culture, nature, gastronomy and, most importantly, kind inhabitants never fail to amaze us," he was quoted as saying.
