Peruvian citizens residing in different European countries are considered hard-working and disciplined people, besides the fact that they contribute to the old continent's economy, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Peru Irene Horejs affirmed.
Most nationals —living mainly in Spain, Italy and Netherlands— have integrated "very well" into these countries' communities.
"There are many people, who are entrepreneurs and others that are poor. However, they are hard-working and disciplined people [...]," the diplomat indicated.
Thanks to this image of Peruvians, Spain and Italy could support the nation's insertion into the initial Schengen visa waiver process.
Under this approach, Ambassador Carlos Polo said such concept on national communities is positive and, to date, none incident has been reported following the said visa exemption.
Mr. Polo —head of the General Directorate of Peruvian Communities Abroad and Consular Affairs— also explained that Peruvian citizens living abroad carry "our cultural values" across foreign countries and contribute to their economies.
On the other hand, the official informed that nationals residing in Europe send more remittances to their families in Peru nowadays.
