The President of the Peruvian Sports Institute, Saul Barrera, handed over a checks totaling S/.4,250,000 (about US$1,370,971) to the national Karate, Judo, Wrestling and Taekwondo Federations.

The Peruvian Karate Federation received S/.1,150,000 (about US$370,967); the National Judo Federation was granted S/.1,100,000 (about US$354,838); the wrestling Federation was awarded S/.1,000,000 (aboutUS$322,580), and the Taekwondo Federation got S/.1,000,000 (about US$322,586), as well.

The money is intended to “dynamize” the subventions program aimed at supporting National Sports Federations, in order to improve athletes’ performances.

“The money is given, so the federations can plan the national and international activities, which involve their corresponding athletes. It means a meaningful progress for national sports, which seeks to benefit over 50 federations,” Barrera indicated.

To the moment, volleyball, track & field, badminton and others have already received subventions.
