The Peruvian Navy will increase its operational capacity by adding the Logistic Support Vessel “Tacna” to its fleet during a protocol ceremony to be headed on Monday by President Ollanta Humala.
The act will take place at the Peruvian Naval Base.

Mr. Humala will be joined by Defense minister, Pedro Cateriano and the General Commandant-General of the Peruvian Navy, Admiral Carlos Tejada Mera.

In case of natural disaster, the ship contains the equipment required to assist people promptly and to defend national interest on the high seas.

The vessel was acquired from the Netherlands through an agreement inked by both governments.

After sailing from the Naval Base in Den Helder, it will enter the Navy Base, located in El Callao on Monday morning. The vessel will become the largest ship to be owned by the Peruvian Navy.
