Peru’s Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, in his capacity as COP 20 President, will take part in the Ministerial Consultation on Climate Change scheduled for 6-7 September in Paris, France.

Pulgar-Vidal was invited by French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Laurent Fabius.

Peru-France ministerial consultations take place within the framework of cooperation regarding the facilitation work in order to achieve substantial results by the end of the year, when COP 21 is expected to come to an end.

A new climate agreement must be reached to succeed in Paris COP21, so political discussions will have to be intensified among delegation leaders and at the technical level at an open discussion forum.

The said meeting is one of the main high-level spaces of negotiation, since the most important decision makers of climate change policies take part in it. That is why the invitation was extended to ministers and high-ranking representatives of 55 countries and three representatives of the United Nations.

Co-Presidents of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action will participate, too, and will be in charge of leading the work on the Paris agreement terms.
