More than 200 national athletes were rewarded with S/1.566 million (around US$484,380) by Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) for having claimed 154 medals at the 2017 Bolivarian Games.

National athletes grabbed 32 gold, 53 silver, and 69 bronze awards at the regional sports event.

Badminton player Daniela Macias won the most gold medals (03) in the tournament.

Other Peruvian athletes stood out in the following disciplines: judo, taekwondo, water skiing, sailing, wrestling, rowing, and squash.

It must be noted the Peruvian delegation was composed of 539 sportspeople at this year's competition.

As is known, the 2017 Bolivarian Games took place in Santa Marta (Colombia) on November 11-25.

"I am very happy, and I thank [the sportspeople] for their efforts. This is the first step […], but I am sure it will be much better at the South American Games and even more at the Pan American Games," IPD Head Oscar Fernandez concluded.
