The Peruanos por el Kambio (PPK) legislators will push for the implementation of anticorruption measures, such as Clean Record and Civil Death, to prevent corrupt individuals to enter the Peruvian public administration, elected lawmaker Gilbert Violeta pointed out.
“These are some of the measures that require implementation and discussion in the Parliament,” he said.
This is not the first time the Congress has come up with the idea of promoting law projects that introduce the imprescriptibility of corruption crimes; however, no concrete decisions have been made yet.
The Clean Record Law would prohibit politicians found guilty of a crime from running for office and, therefore, prevent corruption acts in that sector.
The approval of the Civil Death Law would weed out corrupt politicians from the State and prevent them from continuing to serve the State.
According to Mr. Violeta, priority should be given to agreements serving the country’s interests, regardless of the political differences among different parties making up the Congress.
