18:07 Peruvian investment in Colombia reached US$ 133 million at 2011-end

Lima, Jul. 11 (ANDINA). Peruvian Private investment in Colombia totaled US$ 133 million between 1994 and 2011, becoming the twentieth country with more investments in that market, Colombia’s Office for Promotion of Tourism, Investment and Exports (ProExport Colombia) reported Wednesday.
Only in 2011 new Peruvian investments in Colombia reached US$ 19.1 million, according to Colombia’s central bank.

Thus, Colombia is becoming an increasingly attractive market to Peruvian investors because of its economic and political stability, as well as its dynamic business environment and its recent advances to support foreign investment.

Proexport Colombia has identified opportunities for Peruvian investors in value-added sectors that complement traditional ones such as agribusiness, logistics, mining property and services, textiles and building materials.

At the sectorial level, trade and industry are the main targets of Peruvian investment in Colombia, which represent around 83 percent of the total.

During the first quarter of this year, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Colombia amounted to 3.65 billion dollars, a 3.8 percent increase over 2011 same period.
