Fulbright Scholarship holder Braulio Quispe will teach Quechua —Peru's predominant native language— and Peruvian culture to U.S. university students for nine months.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Peru, Quispe was awarded a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) grant by the Peru Fulbright Commission.

In addition to a Quechua teaching assistant position at University of Delaware, he was given an all-expenses-paid chance to study at the site for two semesters.

"I'm excited to receive this scholarship. Also, I'm preparing to do my best and spread the Quechua culture, mainly that from Ayacucho, to that part of the United States," he stated.

Applicants to FLTA must be Peruvian citizens and reside in Peru. Plus, they need to be 21-29 years old, hold a bachelor degree and demonstrate a broad knowledge of Peruvian history, as well as regional customs.

The Fulbright Program offers grants to qualified Peruvian graduate students to study at the graduate level in the United States.

Scholars are also eligible for the Scholar-in-Residence Program and Fulbright NEXUS, a year-long grant with a 2-3 month exchange component focused on applied research.
