The event was opened by Peru’s Ambassador to Brazil Jorge Bayona and renowned Peruvian chef Flavio Solorzano from the restaurant El Señorío de Sulco in Lima.

The opening ceremony was also attended by ambassadors of the diplomatic corps accredited in Brazil, officials from Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other public entities, specialized media and general public.

In his speech, Ambassador Bayona highlighted the qualities of Peruvian cuisine, which is gaining international recognition, the diversity of its ingredients and the big variety of regional dishes in the country.

The food festival takes place at Meliá Hotel in the Brazilian capital and it is part of the events organized by the Peruvian Embassy to celebrate the country’s Independence Day.

Tourist brochures about Peru and glasses of pisco sour will be distributed during the festival.
