Peruvian athletes shine at UANA Swimming Cup 2018

Peruvian swimmer Andrea Hurtado had an outstanding performance at UANA Swimming Cup's first edition.

The sporting event took place at Coral Springs Aquatic Complex in Florida (United States) on January 19-21.

The 17-year-old athlete grabbed gold medal in the 200 meters' individual medley competition, ahead of Mexican Marie Conde Merlos (silver) and Argentinean Valentina Arce (bronze). 

Likewise, Hurtado participated in the 400m individual medley and 50m backstroke categories, thus winning silver and bronze. 

More Peruvians

Other Peruvian swimmers —who stood out and claimed medals in this competition— were Joaquin Vargas (silver), Nicole Casariego (bronze), as well as her female squad also composed of Isabel Hernandez, Lourdes Villanueva, and Veronica Guzman (bronze).

It must be noted the event —organized by the Swimming Union of the Americas (UANA)— brought together around 500 athletes from 20 countries belonging to Central and South America.
