Peruvian Ambassador Luis Enrique Chavez Basagoitia presented his credential letters to Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, the Andean country's Foreign Affairs Ministry has reported.

Such credentials recognize the appointment of Mr. Chavez Basagoitia as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the European principality.

At the event, the diplomat underlined the excellent bilateral relations between both nations, as well as the visit of Liechtenstein's Foreign Affairs Minister Aurelia Frick to Lima back in April 2015.

Likewise, he highlighted the agreement signed by the Andean country and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), on which important economic and trade bridges have been built.

The Peruvian Ambassador also underscored the European nation's direct support through the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED), a foundation that has been working in Peru's rural regions since 1976.

On his part, Prince Alois thanked the envoy for his message. Furthermore, he showed interest in Peru's progress concerning trade openness, economic growth and poverty reduction.

The Prince Regent of Liechtenstein also reaffirmed his commitment to free trade as a development vector.

Lastly, he seemed interested in Peru's efforts within the framework of the Pacific Alliance and pointed out his nation will consider participation in the bloc, just like some of his EFTA partners.
