Peruvian Ambassador Jorge Roman Morey presented his credentials to Belizean Governor-General Sir Colville Young, the Andean country’s Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.

The event took place during a special ceremony held in Belmopan on June 5.

Such credentials recognize the designation of Roman as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the Central American nation.

It must be noted Mr. Roman currently serves as Peru's top representative to El Salvador, while based in San Salvador.

After extending President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's greetings to the Belizean governor-general, the diplomat expressed his government's willingness to boost bilateral relations.

Afterwards, the Peruvian Ambassador met with other Belizean authorities and businesspeople.

The gatherings were aimed at addressing bilateral matters and implementing mechanisms to strengthen ties existing between both nations.
