Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva announced the successful coming to an end of the Peru-Turkey FTA's fourth negotiation round, which has led to important advances.

Among progress is the closing of three chapters, such as: Customs and Trade Facilitation, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, as well as Technical Barriers to Trade.

"Technical Barriers to Trade sets out guidelines to follow aimed at increasing and facilitating effective trade between both parties, as well as ensuring that rules, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures do not lead to unnecessary obstacles to trade," she highlighted.

To date, four chapters have been closed, as well as the Cooperation section, which concluded during the third negotiation round.

"An FTA with Turkey will constitute one more step for Peruvian markets diversification [...]," she added.

During four days of negotiations, 60 participants from both nations gathered at the event.

In the case of Peru, besides Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry negotiators, representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Finance, Production, Agriculture, Transport and Communications, among other sectors joined the round.

Parties agreed to hold further negotiation round in Ankara (Turkey) to tentatively take place in March.
