The Peruvian Presidency of Council of Ministers (PCM) authorized on Monday the trip of Vice President Marisol Espinoza to Europe in order to take part in the First Preliminary Hearing in the approval process of a Multiparty Trade Agreement between Peru, Colombia and the European Union to be held in the city of Brussels (Belgium) on February 29.

According to a supreme ordinance published today, the first hearing in the approval process of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union will take place this Wednesday at the headquarters of the European Parliament.

The approval of said FTA is very important as the European Union is the main source of cooperation and investments in the country, as well as being one of Peru’s most important trade partners.

Vice President Espinoza –who will lead the Peruvian delegation- will be out of the country from February 27 to March 1, 2012.

A few days ago, deputy Minister of Foreign Trade Carlos Posada noted that on February 29, the European Parliament will hear EU Commissioner for Trade Karel de Gucht for two hours talking about the benefits of the FTA with Peru.
