Peru's domestic tourism is expected to post a growth ranging from two percent to three percent over the upcoming Independence Day holiday weekend, the country's Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) has reported.
"During the four-day holiday weekend, we expect an increase of between two percent and three percent from the same period last year," said José Miguel Gamarra, Peruvian Deputy Tourism Minister.

The Independence Day holiday travel period in the Andean nation runs from Saturday, July 26th to Tuesday, July 29th.

Likewise, the senior government official noted this period represents a strongest travel volume for citizens than Easter week holidays as they prefer to make air travels rather than a road trip.

Therefore, Mincetur, through its tourism campaign which runs under the theme “And what are your plans?” seeks to increase the inflow of domestic travelers to Peru’s top destinations.

In this regard, Gamarra pointed out this initiative seeks to show tourism, not only in theory but in practice, as inclusive and can substantially improve the quality of life for many Peruvians in the country's inner regions.
