Peru's newly appointed Prime Minister Ana Jara said her cabinet will focus on increasing employment rates, reducing poverty and bolstering active government presence in the country's inner regions, especially in the most vulnerable areas.
After the swearing-in ceremony at the presidential palace, the prime minister noted that this new governmental body will focus on strengthening social and productive programs that are consistent with an inclusive economy.
“This will be a diligent cabinet, one that carries the government’s policies with a social approach, and we will guarantee sustainable economic growth,” she noted.
Likewise, Jara pointed out that the new package of economic reforms presented by the government as a means to counteract the economic slowdown will help to boost sluggish gross domestic product growth.
"Economic growth has started to rebound this second half, what makes us think Peru will experience continued growth of six percent as for 2015", she added.
Furthermore, the top government official said the government will announce new measures to boost the Peruvian economy and that reforms aimed at improving human capital and the country's production will continue.
Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso made outgoing labor minister Ana Jara his new prime minister in an official ceremony late on Tuesday. Humala also swore in Fredy Otarola, the president of Congress and the secretary general of the ruling party, as the new labor minister.
