Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros reaffirmed the government’s commitment to double exports by 2021, for which a gradual increase of non-traditional exports will be crucial.
The goal is ambitious, he said, "but we have been working on achieving it."
For instance, Ferreyros disclosed exports have shown positive results over the last months, which “should encourage us to keep working everyday.”
Permanent work
Minister Ferreyros underlined his portfolio has been working on different projects since President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski took over on July 28.
In this sense, he mentioned the extension of the Credit Insurance to Exports for SMEs (SEPYMEX) program, the design of Exporter Protection and the creation of the Single Window of Foreign Trade (VUCE 2.0) project.
Other highlights include the launch of the World Food Program and shipments to China through China Eastern Airlines’ airfreight service.
Remarks were made at the “Export Excellence Awards” ceremony —held by the country's export association, ADEX— where he hailed Peruvian exporters’ efforts.
