10:00 Peru's new car sales rise 16.36% in April
 
Lima, May 06 (ANDINA). New car sales in Peru amounted to 13.110 units in April 2012, an increase of 16.36 percent compared to the same month a year earlier, Peru's Automobile Association (AAP) reported Sunday.

APP recalled that in April, 2011 a total of 11,266 new vehicles were sold and registered at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The best-selling cars in April, 2012 were Toyota with 2,459 units, Hyundai (1,821), Kia (1,339), Nissan (1,172), Chevrolet (1,113), Suzuki (554), Volkswagen (499), JAC (237), Mitsubishi (227) and Renault (208).

Moreover, the city of Lima has recorded the highest number of new car sales with 9,093 units, followed by Arequipa (1,197), Lambayeque-Cajamarca-Amazonas (585) and La Libertad (511).

Cusco-Apurímac-Madre de Dios (483), Moquegua-Tacna-Puno (379), Junin-Huanuco-Pasco (376), Tumbes-Piura (263), Ancash (107), San Martiín (45), Ica-Ayacucho-Huancavelica (42), Ucayali (20) and Loreto (nine) complete the list.
