Peru's international reserves hit US$64.92 at September 16

Peru's international reserves amounted to US$ 64.92 billion at September 16, 2014, amounted to US$ 64.92 billion, the country's central bank (BCR) reported Saturday.
Peru's international reserves amounted to US$ 64.92 billion at September 16, 2014, amounted to US$ 64.92 billion, the country's central bank (BCR) reported Saturday. 

The BCR said that the current level of international reserves accounts for over 33 percent of the country's gross domestic product.

It also covers more than 19 months of imports and is equivalent to six times the short-term external debt, and according to the central bank, these levels are higher than those of other economies in the region.

Meanwhile, the foreign exchange position of the BCRP was US$ 40.70 billion at September 16,2014.

The BCR also reported that the the country risk indicator, measured by the EMBIG Peru spread rose from 144 to 156 
basis points between September 9-16.

On the other hand, The EMBIG Latin America spread rose 1 basis points amid uncertainty about the results of the Scottish 
independence referendum and the next policy meeting of the Fed, the persistence of the geopolitical crisis, and signals of an economic slowdown in China.
