Peru's top striker Paolo Guerrero leads the voting and might grab the Americas' Best Soccer Player award granted by Uruguayan newspaper El País, which intends to choose the most outstanding players of 2017.

As is known, the journal has been picking the best players in the Americas since 1986, with the help of a survey conducted among the continent's most renowned sports journalists, which is also open to the public this year.

The 33-year-old athlete —with 52.92% of the total votes— is becoming the top nominee to take the prize home.

He is followed by Boca Juniors' Dario Benedetto (10.95%).

Furthermore, Guerrero might be included in the "Americas' Top Eleven Players," as he is also one of the most voted nominees in said category
