Cecilia Galarreta, minister in the Peruvian foreign service, said today's event aimed to promote the reconciliation of the Peruvian society in all its diversity.
"That's why our embassies abroad promote events that highlight our identity, based on the recognition of our cultural, ethnic and racial diversity," she said.
On the occasion of Afro-Peruvian Culture Day, the day-long event included lectures by professor Mbare Ngom, Organization of American States (OAS) official Roberto Rojas and cultural attaché Flor Díaz.
The celebrations came to an end with with an evening full of Afro-Peruvian music and poetry.
