Peru's next administration will be focused on ensuring economic growth and investment expansion across the country, President-Elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski assured on Thursday.

"We have built a campaign filled with ideas because we believe a country, such as Peru that has displayed positive economic performance over the last 20 or 25 years, has not made enough investments to become a more equal and socially-developed country," he explained.

In this sense, the official highlighted his administration will seek to eliminate contrasts. He went on to add his regime’s philosophy will be based on providing basic services to the entire national population.

The need for a public health reform, and actions to tackle drinking water shortage, were also mentioned by the former World Bank economist.

He noted one third of the population does not rely on access to drinking water in Peru.

"In this sense, water and sewage-related matters must be absolutely fundamental. In order to do that, the country needs to be supported by a growing economy that ensures investment expansion [...]," Mr. Kuczynski underlined.

"[…] as everyone knows, our country hosts vast natural resources which must be industrialized, and that's not easy," the President-Elect stated.

The 77-year-old also confirmed his first Presidential trip will take him to China, the world's largest economy.

Remarks were made during the 3rd Business Summit of the Pacific Alliance held in Chile's Los Lagos region.

The ex-World Bank Officer will take office on July 28th, 2016.
