Sao Paulo's coach Roger Ceni last Wednesday praised the performance of Peruvian midfielder Christian Cueva, also deemed one of the said Brazilian team's stars.

Remarks were made following Sao Paulo's victory against Sao Bento (3-2) at Paulista tournament.

"He is an essential player in my team, and he is very missed when he is not [playing]," the coach told Sao Paulo's official website.

"During the hardest moment of the game, psychologically speaking, he was courageous enough to ask for the ball and kicked the penalty, and he made the winning goal [...]," Ceni recalled referring to the game.

It must be noted Cueva signed a four-year contract with Sao Paulo on June 2, 2016. Thus, the 25-year-old Peruvian athlete has already scored 10 goals defending the club.

However, rumors have emerged claiming a Chinese league team may be interested in signing the star for a couple million dollars.
