11:48 Peru's Alberto Rossel to fight for world title
 
Lima, Apr. 14 (ANDINA). Peruvian boxing sensation Alberto Rossel will challenge Mexico's Jose Rodriguez for the WBA junior flyweight title in front of a home crowd at Lima's Dibos Coliseum on Saturday night.

Jose "El Torito" Rodriguez goes into the 12-round fight undefeated in 28 fights, with 17 wins through knockouts; while Alberto "Chiquito" Rossel holds a record of 27 wins (13 KOs) and eight losses.

On Friday, both boxers weighed in at the division limit of 108 pounds.

Rosell is the fourth male boxer from Peru to fight for a world title, after unsuccessful attempts by Luis Ibanez (super flyweight), Orlando Romero (featherweight) and Oscar Rivadeneyra (heavyweight).

In October 2010, Rossel had a chance at the world title but was stopped in the ninth round by then WBA super flyweight champion Hugo Cazares from Mexico.
