Peruvian agricultural exports to China has increased 8.7 times after the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, Peru's Agriculture Minister, Milton Von Hesse announced Sunday.
He made this remark during his speech given at the general debate of the First Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of China, Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Beijing, the Embassy of Peru in China said

Von Hesse stressed the Andean country can offer off-season products as well as foods with high nutritional value like quinoa, which can contribute to improve food security in China.

Furthermore, he noted Peru has been working on the development of a set of interventions aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, in addition of add value to the production of farmers, expanding agricultural frontier and developing technologies.

Von Hesse pointed out the importance given by the Peruvian government of encouraging corporate partnerships and the care of agricultural diversity and environment.

Likewise, the Minister highlighted research and development in the field of agricultural science and technology, and reducing phytosanitary barriers to trade.

Thus, Peru expects that trade in the agricultural sector increased in both directions, welcoming increased Peruvian exports in China and vice versa, he said.
