Chinese Ambassador to Peru Jia Guide said the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Peru is evolving fast and that his country will continue to support the Peruvian Government.

The diplomat attended a handover ceremony of firefighting equipment, held by the Chinese Embassy, along with President Kuczynski's wife Nancy Lange and the new Peruvian General Volunteer Firefighters Department's (CGBVP) General Commander Andres Angeles.

Ambassador Jia thanked the presence of Nancy Lange and expressed respect for CGBVP, which has 157 years of history.

He emphasized the firefighters' work is relevant to public safety and constitutes an essential guarantee for social stability and security of citizens.

Firemen and women perform noble tasks and are worthy of people's respect, Jia said.

Peruvian volunteer firefighters fulfill their duties and show their dedication when fighting fires and rescuing people from natural disasters.

"Firefighters merit the title of 'heroes in red.' The [Chinese] Embassy's donation is proof of the high consideration for volunteer firefighters and, at the same time, the vehicle of deep friendship between Chinese and Peruvian peoples," he stated.

The Ambassador recalled Presidents Xi Jinping and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski paid historic visits to each other's country last year, thereby opening a new chapter in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

A few days ago, both leaders met again at APEC Summit in Viet Nam, setting the bilateral cooperation on its course.
