Leaders of civil society organizations in Peru yesterday began a series of workshops and presentations with their peers at a global level in the “Dialogue with Global Stakeholders: Taking action on climate change” organized by the Public Front team of COP20.

This event was intended to make leading representatives of global stakeholders -NGO leaders, indigenous organizations, gender groups, unions, youth, private sector entities and the academia- articulate actions with their national peers about their performance in the COP20.

It also is aimed at strengthening the link between representatives and those represented. “This is the first time a host country promotes an event like this” said Carlos Loret de Mola, team leader of the Public Front COP20.

National and global union and youth representatives met at this event on the first day.

In the morning, Anabella Rosemberg, representative of the International Trade Union Confederation – CSI and Danae Espinoza, Global Focal Point for Southern Mexico from YOUNGO participated in a panel discussion as main speakers.

In the afternoon, a “Meet the leaders” session took place to generate a direct dialogue between national and global organizations.

To date, more than 1,598 NGOs and 99 IGOs have been admitted as observer organizations.

The Dialogue with Global Stakeholders event lasted three days. Corporate private sector representatives and representatives of indigenous groups joined the meeting on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the Public Front team welcomed representatives from NGOs and delegates from universities and scientific networks.
