Peru received more than US$8 billion in investments from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member-countries since 2008, second Vice-President Mercedes Araoz confirmed on Wednesday.

It must be noted Peru, for the first time, hosted this international mega-event in 2008.

Last year, Peruvian exports worth US$20 billion entered APEC economies. 59.8% of total shipments were addressed to Asia-Pacific markets. China led the ranking by receiving 20% of shipments, followed by the United States (18%) and Canada (7.6%),

Likewise, six APEC economies are among the top investors in Peru’s totaling US$6.523 billion.

In addition, Centrum Catolica projected Peru will draw investments worth US$10 billion during APEC Peru 2016 Summit.

Peru entered this economic bloc at the 1997 APEC Summit held in Canada. Currently, the Inca nation has 20 trade agreements in force with countries and regional blocs.
