The United States and Peru have created the First Binational Blueberry Council (USPBC) with the aim of promoting cooperation, trade and investment in the blueberries export sector.
Peru's Blueberries Producers Association (ProArandanos) President Miguel Bentin, who also serves as USPBC Co-chairman, hopes this board will play a key role in enhancing the bilateral trade between both countries.
"Bilateral trade will be improved by supporting Peru-US blueberries' import and export methods," he indicated.
The initiative will be launched on Tuesday, as pert of U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack's official visit to Lima.
Mr. Vilsack leads a trade mission aimed at expanding opportunities for American agricultural businesses.
This board will enable both nations to obtain the required permissions to build access opportunities to new markets.
The Council is composed of top companies such as Naturipe, Driscoll’s, Camposol, Talsa, Hortifrut and ProArandanos.
It must be noted the United States is considered a strategic market for Peruvian blueberries exports.
