Peru training for friendlies against England and Switzerland

11:55 | Lima, Apr. 22.

Peru’s national soccer team has begun early this week its preparation ahead of the two warm-up matches with England and Switzerland, it was reported Tuesday.
Peru coach Pablo Bengochea called up 22-domestic based players to the first training session held at Lima's National Sports Villa (Videna) on Monday.

This selection marks Bengochea’s second experience with the Peruvian squad, as he served as first assistant to Uruguayan coach Sergio Markarian, when he was in charge of the national team.

Thus, as newly-appointed interim manager, the former Uruguayan midfielder is testing the abilities of the preliminary 22-player roster during the ongoing three-day training camp.

The Peruvian national team is scheduled to play its first exhibiton game on May 31 against England at London’s Wembley Stadium. The squad will then travel to Lucerne to face Switzerland on June 3.
