Trade offices will be established in different regions of the country, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva announced on Monday.
"Mincetur and the governorships are developing public investment projects, which will enable to install Regional Trade Offices in [regions]: Huanuco, Madre de Dios, Ucayali and San Martin, in order to promote the exportable supply of these regions," she told reporters.
This “experience” will be imitated in other Peruvian regions. Those efforts intend to create a national network to support the development of foreign trade, the Minister said.
According to the Minister, seven regions registered a “strong” growth in exportations (25.6%).
Among those are: Ayacucho, Cusco, Lambayeque, Loreto, Piura, San Martin and Tumbes.
The regions’ exports represent 13.8% of the nation’s total exports.
Peru’s Northern Lambayeque region registered the highest growth (46.8%). It is due to its increasing sales of unroasted coffee, which accounted for 33% of total exports.
As well, grapes, quinoa, vegetables and avocado represented 30% of total shipments, and 46% of non-traditional exports.
