Tourism is considered by Peruvian President Kuczynski a State policy and priority for his administration, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros highlighted on Tuesday.

On occasion of World Tourism Day celebrations held at the Government Palace, Ferreyros affirmed he works along with different tourism sector's agents on the agenda aimed at promoting the activity.

Thus, it is necessary to articulate efforts with government branches, he noted.

The Kuczynski administration's goal is to double Peru's receptive tourism from current 3.5 to 7 million tourists by 2021.

"Tourism is a sector belonging to all of us, and we must be prepared to receive visitors [...]. We must also do tourism. Tourism makes us better people," Ferreyros pointed out.

It must be noted World Tourism Day has a special meaning for the Andean nation because Peru wants tourism to become a "true engine" for progress, citizenship-building, construction, as well as protection of cultural, environmental heritage and biodiversity.

The event also saw the presence of tourism-sector-related ministers: Martin Vizcarra (Transport and Communications), Jorge Nieto (Culture), Elsa Galarza (Environment) and Alfredo Thorne (Economy and Finance).

In our country, tourism contributes 3.9% of national GDP and generates 1.3 million jobs (direct and indirect).
