1,300,000 million jobs are generated by Peru's tourism activity, which has recorded a sustained growth and positively contributed to workers and their families' financial well-being, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva pointed out.
In this sense, the Government of Peru boosts investments in this sector by facilitating and accelerating procedures to open tourism-related businesses.
"Likewise, we boost sustainable tourism development by creating a tourist offer and professionalizing workforce […]," Silva expressed.
In this sense, she requested the private sector to continue betting on investments in the sector described by her as "transversal."
"Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport expansion, highways and communication infrastructure construction are projects, which will strengthen tourism activity," Silva affirmed.
The head of the Ministry inaugurated the Marriott Courtyard Lima Miraflores hotel on Thursday. During the opening ceremony, she stressed the US$28 million investment carried out by Inversiones La Rioja S.A. and Marriot International.
Peru on tourist map
Thanks to actions carried out by the Government, Peru is placed on the tourism business meetings map.
Among top investments are 27 de Enero Convention Center located in San Borja, which hosted the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the WBG and the IMF.
Peru to host 2016 APEC forum
The said forum will host over 150 high-level gatherings.
"These events prove Peru is placed on a world map. New hotel infrastructure only indicates we have paved the right way," she expressed.
