The announcement was made late Tuesday following a meeting between President Humala, Regional President Gerardo Viñas and Provincial Mayors Isabel Marjorie of Tumbes and Edmundo Romero of Zarumilla.
At the meeting they gave green light to a 1.47 billion sol irrigation project on the right bank of the Tumbes river, which will cover about 25,000 hectares.
Other projects include the construction of the 30-million-sol Center of Export, Transformation, Industry, Commercialization and Services (Ceticos) and the implementation of a 80-million-sol stormwater drainage project in Tumbes.
The meeting, held at the Government Palace in Lima, was also attended by several of Humala's Cabinet ministers.
