Velarde will also take part in the 82nd BIS Annual General Meeting to be carried out from June 23 to 25 in Basel, Switzerland.
These meetings will be attended by presidents of central banks in America, Europe, Asia and Africa to discuss monetary policy, international economic prospects and issues of particular interest to central banks.
BIS invited Peru's central bank to become a member of the institution, during its annual conference last year.
BIS, which was founded in May 1930, is one of the oldest international financial institutions in the world.
