The Governments of Peru and China will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), through which the Asian nation will implement programs related to e-commerce aimed at micro and small-sized businesses (MSBs), said Jessica Luna, general manager at Peru's Foreign Trade Society (Comex).

“China is the main e-commerce market in the world and, for Peru, especially Peruvian MSBs, entering this type of memorandum means entering the first world, commercially speaking. Therefore, the execution of these initiatives is crucial, because MSBs will benefit from these agreements,” he said.

Luna claimed the draft memorandum is ready, and that the final document will be finalized in November. It will be signed by Production Ministers of both countries during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum on November 16-18.

“The idea is to take advantage of China’s experience in the field, transfer it into our market, and make e-commerce promotion a State policy. This will not only lead to substantial improvements in MSBs, but also give individuals the possibility to start their own business using e-commerce,” he said.

It should be noted Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Peru in November this year.
