The Pacific Alliance, the most dynamic economic, trade bloc of the region, celebrates its 10th Summit in the presence of Presidents from Peru, Chile, Mexico and Colombia. Learn about its achievements.

Visa exemption

Mexico lifted visa requirements for Peruvian and Colombian nationals with the aim of promoting mobility of citizens across the bloc. Similarly, Peru, Mexico, Colombia and Chile extended business visa exemptions for trips of 183 days or less, provided that they carry out an unpaid activity in the country.

Financial Integration

The Latin American Integrated Market (MILA) was created as part of economic integration efforts among the four Pacific Alliance member countries. Companies listed on MILA's exchanges already have about US$950 billion in market capitalization.

Consular Assistance

The consular assistance ensures the provision of assistance to nationals of the Pacific Alliance in Member States where there is no consular representation of their country of origin.

Shared Embassies and Trade Offices

The Pacific Alliance member countries share diplomatic venues in Ghana, Morocco, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Singapore and OECD in Paris; as well as an office in Istanbul and Turkey and another one due to be set up in Casablanca, Morocco.

Joint Trade and Investment Promotion

The Alliance has carried out 80 joint activities, two macro business conferences (Cali, Puerto Vallarta and Paracas), two macro tourism conferences (Cali and Mazatlan), two business forums (New York) and two innovation and entrepreneurship forums (Santiago and Cali).

Climate Change

The COP20 included an event –organized in conjunction with the Oxford University– on climate change impact on the biodiversity of the Pacific Alliance countries. In addition, presidents of the Alliance presented a Declaration on Climate Change.

Academic and Student mobility

The Platform for Academic and Student Mobility of the Pacific Alliance was created to promote exchange of undergraduates and graduate students, teachers and researchers among countries in the region.

Youth volunteering

It seeks mobility and integration of youth in the Alliance through their participation in volunteering projects executed in other countries. 48 young people will start the program in July 2015.
