Friday's State Council meeting, designed to strengthen fight against corruption in Peru, allowed participants to address concrete measures that will be implemented by government, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala affirmed.

"We have agreed this is not an only-one-day effort. We have decided to convene follow-up meetings," Zavala stated.

"We have concrete measures we will be allowed to implement, and we are going to make sure they will be properly implemented," he added.

Led by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, the event also saw the presence of Justice Minister Marisol Perez Tello, Judiciary President Victor Ticona and Attorney-General Pablo Sanchez.

The economist thanked the participation of the Public Ministry and Judicial Power by stressing the importance of remaining together in the fight against corruption.

"What matters is that we will be able to implement concrete measures and coordinated actions against this scourge," he pointed out.

Likewise, he regretted the fact that Congress Chairwoman Luz Salgado had not attended the gathering.
