Peru’s President Ollanta Humala has revealed the Andean nation is among the most dynamic economies in the world as it leads a stable and constant economic growth rate in Latin America.
Attending Monday‘s foundation stone-laying ceremony of the new Convention Center of capital Lima, Humala noted his administration is working hard to sustain the ongoing country’s growth despite a difficult economic environment.

“The Peruvian economy, thanks to the country’s macroeconomic framework, remains stable and generates international confidence,” the head of State said addressing the audience at the event held in Lima’s San Borja district.

He added, "Peru is a competitive economy in the world, capable of sustainable economic growth with more and better jobs and greater social cohesion, and respect for the environment”.

Upon the initiation of works of the major Convention Center, Humala said the project will place Lima among the most modern capitals of the region and added it is required to further invest in high quality tourism facilities and infrastructure in order to promote economic and social development.

This large-scale construction work, he said, is envisaged to carry an investment of US$ 193.5 million and create 2,000 direct jobs, while its completion is due by August 2015.

“This initiative will allow the nation’s capital to meet the requirements for hosting major international conferences and corporate events which are scheduled to take place over the coming years,” the Peruvian leader said.

Likewise, he mentioned the upcoming start of works of the recently-awarded US$5.6 billion Lima metro project’s second line, as well as Cusco's US$556 million Chinchero international airport, the US$3 billion Southern Peruvian gas pipeline plus the Talara oil refinery upgrade project.

President Humala continued, "These are key projects we are carrying out since Peruvians believe in development, we believe in the future and modernity”.
