Within a one-year period, the total of Pension 65 beneficiaries expanded by 24% after the social program added 89,760 senior citizens into its beneficiary registry.

Pension 65 is aimed at providing a monthly-revenue for people aged 65 and above, who reside in underprivileged areas of the country.

Among the 469,760 current beneficiaries, who receive the economic subvention from the Peruvian State, the increase has been registered in native Amazonian communities.

For example, the number of users in Peru's Eastern Ucayali region increased by 57% since last July, whereas it expanded by 119% in Madre de Dios. In both regions, the program featured special actions to achieve hard-to-reach communities by carrying out fluvial expeditions.

Also, in Peru's North-Eastern Loreto a considerable increase (above 52%) has been measured, thanks to the work aimed at reaching the most remote areas through the PIAS Napo Vessel Platform (Intenerating Social Assistance Platform). It sails through the Amazonian Rivers, which allows assisting users living by the river banks.

Besides delivering financial donation, the social program seeks to enhance access of vulnerable seniors to extraordinary-quality public services.

Finally, it was announced the elderly have joined the banking system to receive the payments. Currently, a total of 456 bank branches welcome 376,092 beneficiaries, who collect benefits through the said system.
