Thanks to its ancient culture and culinary wealth, Peru has become a growing popular tourist destination for Brazilian travelers, increasing 300% in arrivals over the last year, it has been reported.
Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff made this remark during her official visit to Peru on Monday, Oct. 11, where a meeting with President Ollanta Humala at the Government Palace in Lima took place.
Following the one-on-one talk, there was held a signing ceremony of bilateral agreements which commemorated the 10th anniversary of Peru-Brazil strategic alliance.
During her one-day visit, Rousseff also highlighted the architectural beauty of the Torre Tagle Palace, headquarters of Peru's Foreign Ministry (MRE), and the cultural landmarks of the Andean nation.
According to statistics from the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), in 2004 Brazilian tourists flocking to Peru soared from 34,416 in 2008 to 126.085 in 2012.
Later on Monday, the head of the Brazilian State was declared distinguished guest and received the Keys to the City of Lima from the capital's mayor Susana Villaran.
