The Government of Peru has an emergency plan for Peruvian nationals residing in Venezuela, if crisis in said country worsens, Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna assured.

While addressing Congress' Foreign Affairs Commission, the minister affirmed Peruvian citizens in Venezuela are safe. Otherwise, he suggested, they can head to consulates in Caracas or Puerto Ordaz.

Likewise, Luna noted professional commission members have traveled to Venezuela's capital in order to solve any problems that may occur.

He also indicated Peru's contingency plan considers evacuating its citizens from the Bolivarian country.

Venezuela's crisis is worrying and alarming, and that concept is shared by diverse nations around the world, he added.

On the other hand, a second Foreign Affairs Ministerial meeting is scheduled for next month, featuring the Lima Declaration signing members.

The participation of UN Member States' Foreign Affairs officials is also expected.
