The Economist Intelligence Unit analyzed 55 developing economies, among which Peru ranked as the country with best business environment and most conductive conditions for expanding financial services.

According to the report titled "The Global Microscope 2014: Analyzing the environment for financial inclusion" made by the Economist Intelligence Unit and commissioned by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) Peru scored 87 points, followed by Colombia (85) and the Philippines (79).

The study, formerly known as the Global microscope on the microfinance business environment, assessed the business environment for financial inclusion across 12 indicators and 55 countries.

The aspects considered for this categorization include: national strategy; regulation and financial supervision framework; financial products, attention channels and payment options offered by the financial system; information transparency, financial consumer protection, among others.

The report was launched today during the Inter-American Microenterprise Forum (Foromic), held this year in Guayaquil, Ecuador, which saw the participation of 1,253 representatives from more than 40 countries.
