Peru: Promotion activities boost exports by 18.1%

Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) informed Promperu has implemented 77 trade promotion activities to stimulate business opportunities and trade exchange between Peruvian exporters and international importers, which increased business by 18.1%.

A total of 2,372 export companies (mostly SMEs) have taken part, resulting in more than 34,000 business meetings (16.9% more than the previous year) that have helped secure US$1.9 billion in business, that is, 18.1% more than in 2014.

Iconic, specialized fairs, trade missions to target markets and rounds of negotiations are some of the activities undertaken by Promperu to promote Peruvian products worldwide. 

In addition, the said promotion board has created the 'Alpaca Peru' brand to showcase the quality of garments produced with such fine fiber and place it in high-end markets. 

On the other hand, steps are being taken to build a sector brand for coffee and cocoa.

International Fairs

This year will see the launch of a sector brand for clothing industry in April,; besides, Peru will participate at Fenim Fair in Brazil (January), Who's Next in France (January), Pure London 2016 (February), Textile Sourcing Mission: Peru Moda in Europe —expected to gather 100 buyers and Missions from 500 buyers— Colombiamoda (July) and, Magic Sourcing in the United States (August).
