Peru’s President of the Council of Ministers Pedro Cateriano inaugurated the international conference addressing the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) on Monday.

The international meeting is attended by European and South American experts.

The conference titled “Towards OECD International Standards. Experiences for Peru” intends to ease the public and private sectors’ “familiarization process” aimed at linking the country to the areas of analysis and standards set by the OECD.

It also seeks to spread information regarding the “Country Programme” and its benefits for the aforementioned sectors. Likewise, it serves as a structured mechanism for mutual collaboration between both, Peru and OECD, which rules will be implemented in the 2015 – 2016 period.

The event kicks off on Monday morning at the J.W. Marriott Hotel located in Lima.

The conference is held in the framework of the “Road to Lima” Program. It comprises a set of preparatory activities organized towards the Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to be held in Lima next October.

Experts from Switzerland, Slovakia, Chile, Colombia, OECD and WB officials are also expected to attend. They will share information and knowledge with regard to the potential benefits that could emerge, if Peru officially becomes an OECD member nation.
